    Job Title: Director of Procurement

    Location: Reston, VA 



    Position Overview:

    The Director of Procurement is responsible for designing and implementing procurement policies and processes, as well as managing the Company’s procurement functions to achieve the acquisition of on-time, cost effective, and high-quality services and materials for internal customers and the business. This new position to the company will manage the procurement process from end-to end and will be responsible for all aspects of the relationship with suppliers and service providers, including quality, value and ability to respond quickly to changing requirements. The Director of Procurement plans, supervises, and coordinates all purchasing activities for the Company and will hire and manage a team of two people. 



    What You Do In This Role:

    • Design and implement purchasing strategy, process and policy to increase effectiveness of purchasing across the organization, resulting in savings to the company’s bottom line.
    • Lead a team to negotiate contracts that establish prices, quality benchmarks, timely delivery, cost savings and budget management, and commercial terms and conditions
    • Manage staff selection, performance, development and training process to ensure team competencies and capabilities towards achievement of business goals and expectations
    • Establish, track and report on key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
    • Provide purchasing support to the organization and establish guidelines and processes for the organization to follow
    • Partner with internal teams in Finance, Legal, IT, Facilities, and other parts of the organization to improve and streamline the purchase order and other procurement processes
    • Manage the company’s travel program, including the evaluation of current policies and processes
    • Supervise the team to ensure that purchasing activities are compliant with all company policies
    • Lead procurement projects and constantly review for cost efficiency in day-to-day operations
    • Support continuous improvement across the entire supply chain
    • Provide oversight to all vendor relationships



    What You Bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics Finance, Accounting or a related field
    • Certification as a Certified Purchasing Manager (CMP) or similar is a plus
    • 10+ years of related work experience in purchasing and procurement, with at least 2 years of managing a team
    • Advanced understanding of purchasing best practices and specific experience with building, managing and scaling a corporate purchasing function. Ability to design process and policy
    • Excellent negotiation, project management, and analytical skills with a strong business acumen
    • Ability to switch between strategic thinking and hands-on execution to achieve results
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and teams to achieve objectives a must
    • Superior communication skills, both written and oral
    • Strong software skills including procurement tools, ERP systems, and MS Office
    • Desire to succeed in a data-driven, fast-changing and entrepreneurial environment
