    Job Title: General Ledger Accountant

    Location: Reston, VA


    About This Role:


    The GL Accountant will report to the Senior Director of Accounting Operations and will work closely with the General Ledger team. To be successful in this role, you must have strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. You should have the ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams, including FP&A, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting.

    What You'll Do:  

    • Perform monthly analysis and corporate close activities for areas owned by the General Ledger team, including but not limited to Cash, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Payables, and Debt
    • Close activities to include: prepare and post journal entries for the general accounting monthly close process for assigned areas, prepare reconciliation of assigned accounts, including proper documentation and research of issues
    • Prepare certain key supporting schedules for the Company's quarterly and annual earnings releases and SEC reporting process
    • Prepare and maintain process and associated internal control documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley
    • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules for the Company's annual audit and quarterly reviews with the independent accountants
    • Support other ad hoc requests and projects from management

     What You'll Need:  

    • BS in Accounting from an accredited university; 2 years practical experience
    • Solid accounting background with an understanding of the monthly close and reporting process
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate details of financial information prepared
    • Excellent computer skills and experience with pivot tables and Excel functions/formulas required
    • The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively at all levels of the organization
    • Detail oriented self-starter willing to take ownership to develop and implement process enhancements & business solutions
    • Strong initiative and ability to work independently
    • Organizational, prioritization and time management skills are essential


    Preferred Skills: 

    • Public accounting experience
    • CPA
