    Job Title: Database Developer

    Location: Chicago, IL (Downtown)


    About This Role:


    comScore is seeking a self-starter, quick-learner, versatile, and code-quality focused Database/Datamart Developer to provide support to existing code and databases and to develop new requirements for our external delivery team. This person will work alongside other Database/Datamart Developers and .Net Engineers as a team. If you are an individual that can work closely in a collaborative role with other team members, as well as complete tasks individually as assigned, you'll fit in nicely with us.


    This is a unique opportunity to work alongside talented, innovative engineers solving the unique challenges of transforming over 2 Trillion monthly media interactions into insightful products. Your work will be used by the world's most prominent Internet and consumer brands to understand consumer behavior and influence their global marketing, media and business strategies.


    What You’ll Do:

    • T-SQL development, including but not limited to transactions, (begin…try, merge, common table expressions, ROW_NUMBER/OVER, bulk insert, filtering and covering indexes, computed columns).
    • Work with database architecture and schema for very large databases (think Terabytes!) and very large tables (think Gigabytes).
    • Information retrieval using Spark, and optimization with SparkSQL, Hive QL and other Map Reduce code.
    • Python and/or PowerShell scripting.
    • Development and enhancement of cloud platform via AWS
    • Building and maintaining SSIS (DTS) packages in Visual Studio.
    • Building and maintaining SQL Server reports in Visual Studio.
    • Building and maintaining production SQL jobs using SQL Server Management Studio.
    • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks.
    • Performance tuning/code debugging.
    • Hierarchical datasets.

    What You’ll Need:

    • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field.
    • Knowledge of T-SQL, including but not limited to transactions, (begin...try, merge, common table expressions, ROW_NUMBER/OVER, bulk insert, filtering and covering indexes, computed columns)
    • Experience working with database architecture and schema for very large databases (think Terabytes!) and very large tables (think Gigabytes)
    • 0-2 years of experience in multiple database technologies such as: Distributed Processing (Spark, Hadoop, EMR), Traditional RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), MPP (AWS Redshift, Teradata), and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Neo4J, Titan)
    • Excellent statistical analysis skills, ability to research and analyze various types of data information, and to effectively manage the delivery of that data.
    • Experience in Hadoop scripting such as Python, Bash, or Shell.
    • A passion for, and unyielding pursuit of good, clean and standardized code.
    • Ability to make accurate level of effort (LOE) estimates.
    • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
    • Effective communicators with the ability to maintain honest and open communication always with individuals at all levels internally.
    • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours (if necessary) to accomplish business objectives.
    • Experience and interest in Cloud platforms such as: AWS, Azure, Google Platform or Databricks is a plus
    • Experience with Agile development, software and web development technologies (e.g. C#, ASP.NET) is a plus
    • Experience with version control system such as Git or SVN is a plus.
